Trump’s victory positions the Republicans to hold the White House for the next 12 years - or more

Stars are aligning for the Republican Party.

I have to say I found the hysterical meltdown videos from the election night three weeks ago rather enjoyable. Seeing American celebrities and media figures bawling their eyes out on camera following Trump's win is the best comedy than some of them have been able to produce in years (despite many supposedly making a living out of it).

But I don't think that any of them have quite understood the magnitude of the impact on American politics it's going to have.

It isn't just the evil "Orange Man" returning to run the country for the next 4 years.

It's merely the conclusion of an 8 year period of Trump-aided self-implosion of the Democratic party, which has left it drifting without course or suitable leadership to take over.

Just pause for a second and think of the DNC. Ask yourself: what are the faces that spring to mind?
